European legislation forbids using lead in electronic components and products
starting the 1st of July 2006. Because the 'traditional' way of soldering involves
the use of tin-lead solder, this new standard affects the whole electronics industry.
The switch to use lead-free solder and engineering just lead-free components must be
made soon to comply with the new standard.
In order to make this switch, DIS has started to minimise the use of lead-containing
components in 2004, the major part of our stock is already lead-free for over a year.
Our production will solder lead-free starting the 1st of January 2006. Our expectation
is to produce completely lead-free way before the 1st of July 2006 when the new
legislation is effective.
